We hear questions regarding shipping/freight costs from our customers quite often and we'd like to address it in straight forward conversation with you.  We'll frequently get asked:

"Why does Go Green Home Supply charge freight?"

"When I add products to my cart and go to checkout, I see an expensive freight charge added to my total cost.  Is that for real?"

"Do you offer free shipping on large orders?"

The answer to these questions is generally to remind customers the realities of transporting large, heavy, bulky items (typical building material type products) to your home is different than shipping something like a pair of shoes.  All shipping and retail companies operate with the need to cover their expenses and make a profit - no one transports anything for free.

When a big-box-store order claims "Free Shipping on Orders over $100", that shipping cost is not actually free.  The retailer has just buried in the cost of shipping in the product cost.  For example, a pair of $125 shoes ordered with "free shipping", probably cost around $20-30 to make and sell, $10-15 to ship, and the rest is profit.  You've still paid the $15 shipping expense on your ($30) pair of shoes, it was just hidden from you, it's just perceived differently because it's generally a small amount and often overlooked.  A small price to pay for convenience of online shopping and home delivery...

We're trying to create a similar shopping experience for building materials for the customer, though with more transparency.

In the sustainable building material market, it's often perceived that better, healthier, more eco-friendly products are already more expensive than other, lesser options.  Dollar amounts are larger, margins are thinner, freight is more expensive - so what Go Green Home Supply is trying to show customers is that those products aren't necessarily significantly different in price point.  The real difference is that for the ease of online experience and delivery to your home, we do incur freight costs that need to be covered.  While trying to be as transparent as possible we show those to you, pass them directly on as accurately as possible, specific to your order volume and delivery address.  We've simply broken them out into a separate charge so you understand what your product actually costs.

It's not an add-on fee.  It's just the reality of building material shipping costs and getting great products delivered to your home, easily.

Alternatively - if it makes you feel better - we can provide you a quote where we bury the cost of freight in your order just like the big box stores!  It'll work out to the same total price, but we understand the optics matter to some people!

Reach out to us if that's your thing - we're happy to help either way!

Plan Well.  Build well.  Be well.
